Your guitar practice to start playing real songs in only 14 Days:

Week 1: Practice Lessons 1-4

Week 2: Practice Lessons 5-7

Lesson 1

Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time or looking to refine your skills, this short video is packed with helpful tips to set you on the right path. In this quick tutorial, learn how to hold your guitar properly, position your hands for optimal play, grip a guitar pick effectively, and master basic strumming techniques.

Lesson 2

I'm going to show you how to fret your guitar properly to get the best sound.  Then we are going to learn our first exercise to help you start building dexterity in your fingers so that you can work on the fun part of the course:  Chords!

Chords are how we play songs and I'm going to teach you some great ones in the course to get you started having fun as soon as possible.  But first, let's get those fingers moving.

Lesson 3

In this video, I'll cover the fundamentals of rhythm for guitarists. Learn how to read simple rhythms, keep time, and apply them to your playing.

Lesson 4

Your first two chords! I like teaching these chords first because it only requires you to move the fingers up and down one string. It's a great way to get started. Not only that, after learning these two chords, you can learn the song Horse With No Name by America.

Chord chart can be found here: Horse With No Name Chord Chart

Lesson 5

The next two chords I usually teach my students that build off of your Em chord are the easy two fingered version of the C and D chord. Why do I teach it this way?

1. It allows us to use a pivot point and only focus on moving one finger at a time.

2. It's much harder to move multiple fingers at the same time when you don't have a lot of dexterity in your fingers.

3. Chord rhythm practice. 1 2+3+4 with our new chords.

Lesson 6

1. Open up more songs to your list with this new 2 finger G chord.

2. Creative chord variations exercise with rhythms.

3. Basic music theory about the 1 4 5 6 minor pattern and how they are used.

4. How to practice your guitar. How long should I practice? What if I'm busy with my job, kids, grandkids and family activities?  Yes, I answer that question in this video.

Lesson 7

1. Learn advanced rhythms that can be used with standard ballads, rock and country songs.

2.  Develop more finger movement with the first string finger walking exercise.

3. Using words in our language to play rhythm patterns.

4. Here is a basic pattern for the song Stand By Me.

Let Ted Know You Are Interested In The NEXT LEVEL GUITAR SYSTEM

Ted Brooks is a big blessing in a small package..the man is one of the best guitar teachers around..he has been doing this for long enough to help you have fun and enjoy lessons all while still learning the instrument you chose to play..I would highly recommend him to teach any kid or adult any instrument..don't wait to start lessons with the GOAT of guitar you won't regret it..

Taylor B.

I enjoyed being able to take my lessons each week via Zoom. To have to drive 45 plus minutes for a 1/2 hr lesson would not have been worth the trips. Ted was very good at demonstrating what he wanted me to learn, clarifying any questions or instructions I did not fully understand. He always provided downloads of what we were to study for a particular lesson. My favorite was learning the triads.

Art M.

I so appreciate the way Mr. Brooks was patient and flexible with me. He taught me basics and every lesson included a little diagram of finger position on the guitar neck and string.I worked out of a spiral notebook and have forty or fifty pages of stuff I still use that Ted provided for me.

Tim W.

Ted’s extensive knowledge of songs across all genres allows him to connect music concepts with songs to promote the learning of both at the same time.
